The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training gives learning and development staff a professional qualification in workplace training

This qualification is ideal for instructors, tutors, trainers, facilitators, coaches and mentors – in fact anyone who is teaching groups of adults within the workplace. It will ensure your learning and development staff are equiped to deliver the optimum results for the business.

The National Logistics Academy 6-week Award in Education and Training blends classroom learning at an Academy centre with home study and practical teaching practice in the workplace. The qualification is designed to enable anyone who undertakes teaching and learning sessions to do so in a planned and structured way to ensure that learning takes place effectively. It teaches also various training tools which can be used to meet the different needs of individual students.

The BTEC programme:

Is a recognised qualification awarded by Pearson that develops skills as a trainer or facilitator of training

Provides the foundations and tools of teaching and learning to enable trainers to train adult learners in a measured and recognised way

Allows the trainer to plan effective teaching and learning which in turn will enable adults to learn new skills in the most effective way

Gives the trainer confidence in passing on knowledge and skills in their subject area in a way that will benefit both the individual and the employer

Course outline:

  • Week 1: a 2-day training session
  • Weeks 2-5: approximately 27 hours of home study and distance learning to complete a number of assignments with mentoring and tutor support
  • Week 6: a 1-day training session
  • Weeks 7-8: a 1-day training re-cap and micro-teach session

  • Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Unit 4: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Unit 5: Understanding assessment in education and training
