The National Logistics Academy

The UK's first truly national logistics skills network

The decision to create The National Logistics Academy was stimulated by major logistics companies pressing us to provide training and development that met the following criteria:

  • Uniform teaching and assessment throughout the UK
  • Uniformly high quality and quality assurance
  • Uniform learning materials
  • Specialist logistics training expertise and knowledge
  • A single point of contact and account management for delivery throughout the UK
  • A system that informs them of learner progress without having to pick up the phone to multiple training locations, or ideally not pick up the phone at all
  • A single invoice irrespective of where the training is carried out

The National Logistics Academy will provide the above criteria for Driver CPC, CPC, ADR, LGV licence acquisition and logistics apprenticeships.

We have assembled a nationwide network of very experienced specialist logistics training providers to deliver a uniform product from 45 locations throughout the UK, all working under a single brand.  All customer contact will be through the Academy Centre in Manchester where staff will be able to monitor and report on all learners’ progress utilising a centralised system.

The system is very similar to that of pallet networks except our product is people development, instead of the movement of freight.

Trailblazer Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship frameworks are gradually being replaced by new Trailblazers based on standards written by groups of employers. The National Logistics Academy is currently developing programmes for the following standards:

Apprenticeship Levy

From April 2017 all businesses with a payroll over £3m a year have to pay the Apprenticeship Levy. We can help you devise a programme to ensure you make the best use of your levy pot to up-skill existing staff and recruit and train new talent. For further details on the Levy and how it will affect your business click here.

The National Logistics Academy has been successful in its application for acceptance onto the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers which means that we can deliver apprenticeships for levy-paying employers.

In July 2018 Ofsted conducted a monitoring visit to The National Logistics Academy as part of a series of monitoring visits to a sample of new apprenticeship training providers that are funded through the apprenticeship levy. The Ofsted inspectors concluded that The Academy is one of a minority of new providers that was making “significant progress” across all three of their inspection themes. More here
